the race bikes of the late 1960’s, the Yamaha DS7 250 cc (or also called YDS7) was lighter and slimmer than its predecessors. Same as Yamaha R5, it had twin
two-stroke engine, piston-port induction intake system, oil injection with oil
tank underneath the seat to provide lubrication to the engine and five
gear transmission. The main difference from other DS models was its
horizontally split crankcase. Though it was originally introduced to the
Japanese market in 1970, it made its appearance in Europe, USA and other
countries mainly in 1972.
